Beauty and the Beast Poem
In a land, so far away, a shining castle lies,
shrouded by mist and towering tress, under darkest skies.
Who dwells within, but a monster, looked on with disdain,
whose human form was long ago, by magic cruelly slain.
In shadows he hides his hideous face, on solitude he feasts,
for long ago, his land was fled, by men and too by beasts.
One hope he has, one small at best, that comes by form of a rose,
for who could he love, who loves him true, only heaven knows.
But fate is kind, it leads a girl, a beautiful young thing,
to the castle and the Beast, whose heart begins to sing.

TO TAME A WILD BEAST
ACT 1, SCENE 1
Enter FATHER and his daughter, ANABELLE
FATHER
Anabelle, my dear child, you cannot go on this way! It is high time to find you a husband! This afternoon the baker asked me for your hand in marriage.
ANABELLE
(Aghast) But Father, he is much to old, and entirely too fat for his own good! I could never marry such a man as him!
FATHER
Be reasonable girl. Im not the blacksmith I used to be, and people wont pay for my work anymore. If we are to survive, I must have you married. The baker is not so old! When I married your mother I was twice her age.
ANABELLE
